daylight savings

Well, for the first time in ages I got home while its light outside. It might be related to me leaving home 3 hours earlier than usual, and therefore arriving before 10 am at work.

Meetings, discussed deployment and future plans. I've come to dislike fedora. Again.

Beat myself bloody against email and rpm. Less than happy.

Had Icecream. made my day ;)

work

finally got out and to TakeIT again today. Yey. Got there around noon in a tired daze, sat down and started beating off email (evolution is bothersome for some reason).

Sometime after my lunch (a few hours later that is) they came in with a thinkpad and a toshiba latop and wanted me to configure the netbooting system there.. cool. Now I know what I'll be doing tomorrow. :)

So not happy

I'm so far from being happy right now that it isn't even funny. I had to borrow ~ 50 euro just to get "Warranty Repair" for two of my three failed harddrives.

Yes, you read right, three failed harddrives, but I can only afford sending 2 back(and I only had shipping containers for 2). 2 of the drives are Maxtor, one IBM/Hitachi deskstar (120Gb)

No, I'm not happy at all

Wireless

The state of the art is poor here. I've been working for a few hours to try and find drivers for an SMC 2662 v3 USB wireless adapter.

Theres.. a -lot- of different drivers, few seem to work, the one that I got to work seems to act well with wireless extentions. *sigh* (chalk off the binary-only "official" driver, the Sourceforge one hung the system (not the usb-uhci issue), the berlios one was the only thing I got to work (But not with hotplug. enable hotplug and it dropped again. )

One of theese days I'll retry with hotplug and kernel 2.6, it appears to have internal drivers for the at76c50x cards.

wireless-tools worked though. yey. But I can't check the link quality. I hate software.

printing & mail

Bleh. I hate printing. Been digging around for a `lpr` replacement that understands printer selection in a gui. Bleh, again.

And mail. I hate obscure virtual mailhosts configs.

Spam spam spam

Re-setup spamfilters again today. amavisd-new, clamav, SpamAssassin, (Pyzor, Razor2, DCC and blacklists when I've done the profiling). Worked over Gnome 2 for reduction areas and system profiling. Appears I can get some more performance from it if I beat it. Hope so, its necessary for the borderline support areas.

Looked at implementing gnome-session for hostname basis. Would make the "two machines, one $HOME" case working again (its broken as things are). Wouldn't make a difference from the local home user either. Good. However it would break in the computerhall, which is bad. I'd need it to work "right" if you only have one login active at the time, not to always mess up and create a new session.

Perhaps if one did session merging? Or an option? not sure.
